The launcher

The first character says what the field is for. SUPER Space turns the island into a search field and a list under it. Plain text searches applications; a character in front switches mode, and the glyph at the start of the field says which one you are in. The Search button on the bar and the button at the start of the dock open it too.

The characters are the defaults, and each can be changed under Settings → Launcher → Sigils: one character, not a letter, a digit or a space, and not one another mode uses. With only the character typed, the line under the field says what the mode takes.

Applications

Ranked by what you actually launch. The list is every match, ordered by four things in turn:

1. Names that start with what you typed come before names that only contain it.
2. How often you launch it from here, with older launches counting for less — half as much after thirty days. An application kept on the dock counts as one launch more.
3. Between two kept applications neither of which you have used, the dock’s order.
4. The name.

So with nothing typed, what you kept on the dock leads, until something else is used more; a kept application wears a small dock mark on its row. Only launches from the launcher count — what you open from the dock or a terminal does not move the list. The list of applications is read again every time the launcher opens, so anything installed since shows up at once.

Every panel, every mode and every one-press action, by name.

• Panels: System statistics, Settings, Pet, Games, Notes, Task board, Workspace overview, Appearance, Session menu, Keys, Packages.
• Modes: Calculate, Windows, Timer and Clipboard, each with its character on the row. Enter on one switches the field to it and keeps the launcher open, so it teaches the character as well.
• Actions: Capture, Annotate, Read text, Colour, Record and Clear clipboard — the ones the machine can do.

Typing matches the name and the line under it, so photo finds Capture and wallpaper finds Appearance. This list is never cut short; what does not fit is under the arrow keys.

The clipboard

Everything copied, in the launcher. SUPER V opens the launcher already in clipboard mode, and pressing it again closes it. Entries are newest first: text shows how it starts, and a copied image is drawn as a thumbnail. Typing searches each entry’s text — for a long one, its first 240 characters.

• Enter copies the entry back onto the clipboard; paste it yourself with CTRL V.
• SHIFT Delete forgets the selected entry. It cannot be undone.
• Copies that a password manager marks as secret are never stored.
• The Clear clipboard tile in the control centre, or Clear clipboard under >, empties it.

Moving the pointer lights a row too, and a click runs it. Something is always lit, so Enter always does something.

Note

There is no fuzzy matching: a typo finds nothing. Enter copies an entry rather than pasting it, only the regular clipboard is watched — not the selection the middle button pastes — and nothing is recorded while the shell is not running. See limitations.
